I had a bike rack on my truck that I decieded to modify to fit the back of my 3rd gen. I used a the factory anchor mounts and bolts to mount it to the back of the 4runner.

Gotta say thats pretty ingenius.
Any DIY perhaps? ;)

it looks like one of those expanding bike racks that attaches to the roof rails and he simply just used the existing bolt holes for the tie downs in the back to bolt it in, i think the name of the product he's using would be beneficial as well.

Nicely done! I had been considering something like that too - the bar was the missing piece :)

At some point, I'd like to get a hitch-mounted, tray-style rack (Yakima Holdup or Kuat NV), but my $$ is going elsewhere at the moment. Dang things are spendy!

A piece of wood would suffice for the "bar", and then you can buy the fork clamps separately for about $15 each. Cheap, and just as effective. Nice work OP!

Thanks for the positive comments. I had this bike bar sitting around since I totaled my 94 toyota truck on Christmas Eve. I thought might as well make it work for me again. This is temporary till I can get a hitch mount rack. But since I don't have the cash for one now this will do.
