it will be held down to the 4 factory tie downs, other then that it slides right out.

Looks great. I'm about to tackle something similar, but it wont turn out that well. Where did you find the latches you used?

My Jeep had onboard water utilizing a front runner tank that fit behind the back seat. After doing that and losing the ability to easily refill the tank without a hose or put the back seats down I'll be using 2 of the plastic Jerry cans with an uptake tube through the lid. Im selling my JKU right now and don't own the 4Runner but hopefully one will fit on each side between the box and the vehicle just behind each wheel wel hump.

They are southco latches from zoro

I like that idea as long as you aren't in freezing weather. I guess you can always bring the cans in when needed.

Are you using 3/4? If so, curious as to why? I would think 1/2 would be more than enough. Seems like overkill and a waste of weight.

Main case and fronts are 3/4 , drawers and such are 1/2".

Slides alone are 80lbs
