I just bought one of those Black Widow Cargo Baskets from http://www.discountramps.com/roof-rack-basket.htm

UPS is going to deliver tomorrow...I only spent $160 with priority shipping.

Before purchasing I did some research and found nothing negative about these racks so I figured why not?

Not a problem...the wife is waiting for the delivery to arrive today. I'll take pictures of the package along with the installation to see if it is as easy to install as they sellers claim.

I'll be exploring Mojave Preserve this weekend with another Toyota group...I'll provide my feedback for this as well (wind noise, off-road differences with/without the rack, etc.)

I disagree with everyone that thinks the Yakima Load Warrior is to small for the 4th gen. I prefer is to the extended version. It doesnt block my sunroof and leaves space in the rear for my CB antenna. Plus I rarely fill the load warrior so the mega would be over kill.

I agree 4rnr30. but to each his own. I like the load warrior size and your rig reps sharp man. nice lights. those must "cast a spell" in the dark!

I did not get the fairing in the box so I went back to REI and they ordered me one. should cut down on noise due to wind. since roads are free of ice now I can actually go faster than 20MPH.

the load warrior actually can handle a lot. if I was moving someone coast to coast I might extend it but at least for moi, the mega is mega. =)

My wife actually wanted the Yakima LW but I wasn't ready to spend that much money for it. Even used they still sell upwards $300.

I think it looks good...

yes, i agree the cost is high. got a discount at REI which helped me choose. any way we choose to roll WE GET THERE !

So I got my roof rack today and it looks great.

Setup was indeed easy as the seller's claimed.

So...drove on the freeway and holy crap the roof rack is noisy...time to make some wind deflectors with some acrylic pieces.

yes. I am getting a fairing from Yakima right now. You can go to REI and check out the fairings or fashion your own. I think the pre made ones are secure. should help with the wind noise significantly.

I have the Yakima with fairing and yes, it's still noisy. Specially above 75mph. . It's not that much fun when it's windy on the highway though.. I just crank up the volume so it's not an issue for me..

Yes with any roof rack it is going to be noisy. When I first got the LW for my 4runner my girlfriend hated the noise but you just get used to it. Now I hardly recognize the noise but you mainly hear it over 65 mph.

So I got back from my Mojave trip on Monday and I must say this under $200 rack actually worked better than expected.

I know I said that I was going to only add my water and gas tanks up top but I actually loaded all my camping gear up top as well.

It handled well on the freeway, whoops, bumps, water crossings on the trail and I couldn't be more happier with the purchase!

By the way...did the Mojave trail with my stock 2WD...but had a bunch of 4WD's just in case...

I did get stuck once on a sandy wash portion but it was because the rig I was following stopped and I lost momentum...after a quick recovery I was goin' again

Hey mangus, did you consider getting the air faring add-on for that rack? I'm probably going to get the same model and I'm thinking the air faring might cut down on some of the noise.

anyone know of a good rack that will allow thule bike racks? or an adapter for such a thing? i want the thule MOAB 690xt but it's pricey so i'm considering other options as long as my thule bike racks fit to it.
