Carista not supporting 2018 4Runners??

Bought the Carista OBD2 module & it arrived today.

Installed the Carista app on my iPad today; it’s the most recent version (3.6.7).

Plugged in the OBD module. It has a blue light on the left that flashes momentarily when first plugging it in, but then it just has a red light on the right that stays lit.

The car is turned on.

The Bluetooth on my iPad is turned on and shows that it is connected to Carista.

When I try to connect, it asks me for the make of my car; I select Toyota. Then it asks me for the year of my car and it offers nothing more recent then 2016. I select 2016, it thinks a bit more and then tells me that my vehicle is not supported.

Um... help?

Plus, where do I activate my free one-month trial? There is no obvious place...

Mine does not ask me make, model, or year. I simply plug in my generic obd connect to it via Wi-Fi then start carista. The free trail is after you select the PRO version to pay. Just cancel before your trail period and you won't be charged. I successfully used on 2016 4runner trail premium.

I will have my carista tomorrow. I plan on using on my 18 also. I hope it works. I will let you know what I find out

Try plugging it in with the car off then turn the ignition on and see if it works.

I’ll try that again, but that’s what I did the first time... because I didn’t yet know that the car needed to be on.

No such luck. Anyone know what the red light and blue light on the adapter mean?

Mine worked fine. Programmed my windows to roll down with the remote fob.

Did mine couple of months ago and worked fine. 2018 TRD ORP. Did windows got rid of that gas mileage thing on the dash and other sorted options. But like an idiot I forgot to cancel after trial got charged for another year. It's still worth it in case come up with new options. I used app through my Android phone to install don't if it matters or not but thought I would mention it.

I got mine today and have no issues. Plugged in and it worked right away. I didn’t have to select the vehicle either. Might want to get ahold of customer service

Only problem I'm having at the moment is the trans temp is all over the place on my Torque app.

I suggest you email the support team and send them the diagnostic info. Are u sure you got an authentic dongle?

I mostly use it to hold down some papers in my glove box

And for the OP, the carista definitely works on an '18, I just used it on my new TRDORP on Monday and didn't have any issues.

Works on my 17' and 18'. Both Offroad Premium. I used my own Bluetooth dongle.


Are you sure carista bt dongle works with Apple products? Most bt dongle will not work with Apple products. Apple has this area locked down. Other manufacturers use wifi to work with Apple products.
