Guys there is a bunch of in depth videos posted on facebook in the group Toyota 4runner 5th gen Owners. There doesn't seem to be any lag on the T8 8 core version. Backup cam and steering wheel controls work. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the black T8 8 core version last night.

Agreed - but be careful what you read / verify the info. Two FB resources who have the units were indicating an additional backup camera was included as well but that is NOT the case. They promised something that didn’t exist which is why they had to go back and attempt to clean up some of their previous posts and comments.

If you ordered from T4R (NOT FB) and share your order numbers then I can find out when they will be shipped out. You can post it here or DM me. And if you’re in no hurry, then obviously no need. If you ordered from FB or directly from the site then I don’t have insights into the tracking info and the manufacturer doesn’t disclose order details if they don’t come from me. For those orders just contact the manufacturer via the site to get your info - not sure how much of a delay there will be (this is how I help influence the turnaround times).

Bummed the black only come in matt black, really want it to match existing trim. I wonder how hard it would be to remove the trim and have it painted to match?

So many people buying this head unit sight-unseen without an actual video review of it. Yes, there are FB videos but if OP is interested in pushing these why not install one and make your own review video to show it's not a slouch like the head unit on the FB video?

I already stated I would test out what this group wanted to see specifically once I receive my unit. I’m not about to pay extra out of pocket for expedited shipping just to receive my unit and show you what it can do.

I’ve already stated you can buy the unit from FB, the manufacturer website, or on here. If I need to help influence the manufacturer to go one way or another, I need to be able to show I’m reliable to them and that there is a demand for X or Y features from the consumers - that’s how the Apple Play connector was added last night. I can’t just say oh we want this or that or add more of this next batch if I don’t have any orders from T4R.

you're just really really eager for people to send you their order info when they buy these, between that and the the poaching sales comment it seems like you're either getting a cut or they are giving you a free unit of you generate a certain amount of other sales or something. neither is bad, but that's what it seems like.

This is a picture that was shared and later added to the listing on the CT website. It looks to be a USB dongle that you would plugin to the new headunit. Then, it would be wireless from that point, I think.

i wish it would be, but i highly doubt it. i've looked at several android HU with carplay dongles on youtube. all of them are hardwired.

i believe the alpine ilx-107 is one of the true wireless carplay which we can use on our t4r. op2:

With the pro grills, lots of people hit me up via DM because they never got order confirmations or details on shipping - I was able to get that info to them in less than 12 hours because it shows up for me after the order is placed. The manufacturer won’t share order details with me details if they don’t come from me.

Both get you to be same place and the same price. Use whatever you want.

You’re right - found a similar looking connection on Amazon. I guess you connect your phone to the dongle and the dongle to the unit.
