So can this be run with Android Auto or does it have to be tethered if you have an Android based phone? Also is it compatible with the JBL stereo?

What did you end up needing to do? Did you root it, install an app, use the dongle, or some combination?

So I used the dongle that came , downloaded Zbox app, and boom! All set...

Anyone take the bezel off around the unit to paint it closer to the trim color?
 
The only thing holding me back is that the screen apparently doesn't auto-dim, or even have an easy way to dim. Also sounds like it's not bright enough with the glare -- that's a dealbreaker, it's the number one complaint I have with my Kenwood DMX905s. There's also a risk that in three years, the staple apps (e.g. google maps) may no longer be supported without Android OS updates. Plus, no real word on 3G/4G dongles (yet).

I think you haven’t watched or followed my reviews. I fixed the brightness issue in 48 hours and it’s bright as **** now lol. If you order from this link, you will get all the bells and whistles, latest updated soft, including the brightness. I can’t even drive full brightness at night, need to set it half.

Does anyone know if you need an antenna adapter to go from the 4Runner antenna plug to a standard Motorola style plug that most aftermarket head units use?
 
Security options

I set up a pin while messing with some app and now I have to swipe up and input to unlock everytime I start the truck. Anyone know how to turn that off/where the security options are?

Finally somebody said it. Two hours after I ordered one haha :painkiller:

I knew these MFers were shaky. Oh well, it definitely is the best looking head unit out there for the 4R. Maybe by the time mine melts there will be a new one.

Nah dude it's not bad it's just not for me. It just takes too long to load up apps for me. I only listen to stitcher and Spotify. For whatever reason it wouldn't load my stations... I rarely used Waze. I just found myself streaming off Bluetooth more than using the apps. At that point I was like wtf am I doing? It's not bad it's just not for me.


I literally jump in my truck and go. I don't wanna have to remember to put on my hotspot .... Everytime. So to me it wasn't practical

Got it, thanks. I usually just play music from a USB but wanted a larger screen that will work with Google Maps, so hopefully I'll be good. Enjoy that Raptor if you pull the trigger.
