Alright guys am I getting screwed or not? I have check engine light on and the code is saying catalytic convertor and it has taken out traction control. He is saying I should just replace 4 of them. I don't know squat about cars! Do I have 4? Do I need to replace them all or is there one it is most likely to be?
Thanks!

He is a local shop... I have had good luck with him when I have shopped. My dilemma is when I bought the truck I knew about the code but he is telling me now it could run 2 grand.

4th gens have 3 converters and 4 oxygen sensors. People always say your second sense kicks in to run from danger. I think you should go to another shop. But I think you were waiting for some confirmation. Also what engine do you have and what is the mileage on your truck?

O2 sensor

Well as most will tell you post up the code being thrown , how many miles on your 03 and possible o2 sensors instead ! Lots of prior posts on this problem .

It is a V6 with 160,000. Sorry I guess I should have checked other posts...just want to make sure I am getting straight scoop. You all would recommend O2 sensors first? It runs fine it is just the loss of traction control that is bothering me!

Got Codes

I stopped by Autozone and ran the codes. Came back:
P0430-Catalyst system efficiency below threshold- bank 2
PO420- " "-bank 1
P2241- Oxygen sensor or A/F sensor pumping current low bank 2 sensor 1

The guy said it was probably an exhaust leak....doesn't seem loud.

Thoughts?

O2 sensor

I had the same ones after I installed urd y=pipe have replaced both my rear o2s no probs YET ! Bought a/f sensor just n case , got em on amazon seems cheapest if you can wait ? I know its hard to read all those old posts but lots of good stuff there Buy denso plug an play

oljedi, on this link, Eastern Catalytic Converter - Direct Fit 49-State Eastern Catalytic Converters it looks to me like on 05+ v8 theres 2 frt cats & 2 rear cats for the v8, & this is the one in question

I got the v6 & have 4 or had 4 before the y-pipe ! Replaced the rear 2 o2 since I was throwing the 0420, 0440 no problems .

Has the sound/pitch of your exhaust changed? If you have a cat falling apart, the crumbling pieces can get blocked in the exhaust pipe and make your T4 sound like a honda lawn mower.

If he wants $2k to fix, either try alternate shops, or find a friend with a welder and pay him a case of beer or 2 to swap em out.

Cats removal

If I remember CXS(member) did his cats by a shop n Colo. just had his guy weld them in think he bought magnaflow , haven't heard how this turned out for him but I'm sure he's listening !!

Looking at doing the spark plug anti fouler..... Went hunting to other links like suggested. Can I just do the last one on both sides?

Done and No Lights

Okay thought I would wrap this up for anyone who stumbles upon this thread! I followed the suggestions from another thread and used the spark plug anti foulers. Put the pieces together then took out CO2 sensors and screwed them into these.....took care of check engine light. Still had VSC Light and Trac off lights on..... followed Toyota Service Bulletin TSB (TSB BR005-03). Obviously didn't have their equipment but did exactly what it said using two wires and that took care of those lights.....all in repair was $10!!!! Thank you everyone!
