I run the 4 foot and it works for me. Tunes in fine and gets plenty if range for what I use it for

Do you think it makes a huge difference between a 3 foot and 4 foot? I am running a 3 foot so that I can fit mine in the garage. I dont get a very good signal so would a 4 foot change that a lot? If someones like 50 feet away from me it doesnt come in very well. I figured I would get a better signal than that cause its still a 3 foot tall antenna. But im kind og new to the whole cb radio thing so im not sure how much of a difference it makes. Any input is appreciated thanks!

I would think there would be a significant difference between a 3 and 4 foot because ideally an antenna has 1/3 of its length above the roofline. A 4 footer has just about that above the roofline so I think the 3 would be a lil short. Fwiw I get about 3 mile range on average

ideally you have the right size, 27Mhz, the half-wavelength is 208 inches, the 1/4wl is 104", the 1/8wl is 52", and then 1/16wl is 26"...with that said though i've been reading most manufactures have been tuning their radios to work with the 39~41inch regardless of wavelength, (electrical length varies as opposed to physical length) so it really comes down to which radio you have, how you've run your wires, how you've mounted your antenna and the overall set up you have...remember this is a complete system and any mis- matches will absolutely kill your TX and RX capabilities, I've only had my amateur radio license for about 6 months now so i'm sure some one who knows a little more than me can clarify if you need it .

but for future reference in antenna length find your frequency and enter it into the calc below, also some good reading.....
