So I'm finally getting a CB. I ordered a Firestick 4' antenna and I want to mount it with the Comet RS720 lip mount. I noticed there were two different types of Comet RS720 mount, I was wondering what else I'll need to attach the antenna to the mount. And how I'll attach the coax cable to the antenna/mount. Thanks in advance!
For any of the hatch style mounts you are going to need the appropriate type of coax to interface between the radio and the mount.
They generally look something like this, The mount end is designed specifically to be used with those style of mounts.
You just have to make sure the ends are correct for whatever you need for the antenna and radio... NMO, PL-259, SO-239, SMA or whatever a CB antenna uses.
I have a couple of those hatch style mounts for two different ham radios I have in the 4Runner and they work very well. Just be careful if you wheel in areas where you can have the whip impact from low hanging branches or brush. Those mounts can give if the antenna is not flexible.
