The information there is contradicting to what I'm saying. The shorter my antenna the worse my SWR gets. From what Right Channel is saying it's too long?

Are either fo the two antennas tunable with the adjustable tip on the end?
The 4’ antenna at 1.4/2.2 is close. You will not get a 1.5 to 1 ratio out of it but you should be able to get a 1.7 or so out of it. The smallest adjustment to the tip of the antenna makes a huge difference. The SW value will move relative to each other so as the 1.4 value increases the 2.2 should drop as you tune the antenna. I personally would spend a few more bucks and get an antenna with an adjustable tip.
x2 on spending the extra $ and get a tuneable antenna. I get being anal and trying to solve the issue but you also want something that is easy to work with. Over time you may find you need to tune it again and having to do this crap all over again could be a pain. With and adjustable it takes about 5 minutes.
I actually kept my SWR connected inline on mine and it sits in the glove box at all times. I can always do a quick check before I head out on the trails to make sure i'm set right for a trip. And with the tuneable antenna it's' a snap.
