CD Text Display on Nav Radio

I have seen several screen shots of Nav systems that shows the CD song titles and such. I have a brand new 2005 Limited with factory Nav and I haven't been able to get them to display. My first thought was that it was my CDs but when I convert them to MP3 and put them in my iPod they display the titles etc.

Anyone have any success with CD text?

Do you burn your own CDs? I do and I add the song title and artist info in the burning software. Every one of my CD shows this info. Not many original CDs will show this info. When you convert them to mp3's, most likely what's happening is the software you use to convert to mp3 finds the song and artist info over the internet and adds it to the mp3.

The NAV is very picky about whether it will show the cd text or not. I've noticed that mine will only work when I use certain brands of CD-R's. It will work, its just a matter of finding what it likes and dosen't like.

I took your advise and burned a copy of a cd with song titiles added in itunes. It worked perfectly!

I actually found the navigation radio to be less picky with CD text than the stock radio on my 03 Sport. So far, most burned CD's displayed some sort of text.

no problem. i did a lot of experimenting with nero 6. in nero, you can specify song, album, and artist, but the nav will only show the song and album, so i just include the artist and album info both in the album box if it's short enough so the nav will display everything.

do you know about the 'msg' button for the radio stations? when the truck's not moving, if you see a 'msg' text next to the station display, you can press the 'msg' button while the radio's on. a lot of stations espcially in the big cities will show the artist and song title that's currently playing.
