CEL w/VSC-TRAC VSC OFF (replaced O2....)

hi all. looking for some insight......please......

i had an intermittent cel paired with vsc trac/vsc off light.

finally stayed around.

cel was for driver rear o2 sensor.

replaced with OE bosch sensor.

CEL gone now, but the VSC TRAC VSC OFF lights are still lit.

i had the neg batt cable off while doing sensor.

vsc lights came back on about as soon as i put it in reverse to back out of the driveway.

anyone have any ideas on this?

i had read on here previous to doing the sensor that often times those vsc lights come on when the cel throws an o2 sensor code.

any input would be great.

Your zero point was erased. It's a super easy thing to fix and I just use a speaker wire to do it.

I would also consider replacing the bosch with OE or Denso sensors. Bosch sensors are notorious for causing issues.

I want to second that. I have heard that true 3rd party sensors (Bosch included) are crap.

Denso sells its OEM sensors directly to most auto parts places. They may not be branded "Toyota", but they are the exact same thing.. for less than half the cost. I just replaced an o2 sensor on mine. I went Denso, autozone, 59 bucks. 0 problems.

thanks for the response guys. couple things to add.

one, I installed the new sensor in the wrong side. I was misinformed on which side was bank one.

I knew something was wrong because the CEL came back I. again after about 15 minutes of driving.

anyway. swapped it over and retrieved the other sensor from the trash.

no more CEL. however. the trac lights are back on again.

as far as the denso or other sensor, the bosch was the one that oreiley said was oem replacement. so I'll leave it for now.

I am reading on the jumper wire now. thanks.

I am have the same issue with the OP. Replaced driver's side after cat O2. CEL gone but the VSC and TRAC lights are on. Tried the zero point calibration but no luck. Once I started moving the car, the lights are back. Any suggestions.

It worked! I re-did the zero point calibration for the nth time. I have missed procedure #9 during my previous tries. This time it worked. No more lights so far.
