I have my cellphone mounted to my dash (on the digital clock ledge) using a magnetic mount. It holds extremely steady. As for my compact tablet, I used a ProClip and Ram Mount combination to attach onto the center console.

I use a ProClip on the Pass AC vent. I experimented and it actually directs more air towards me. I am fine with that as I run hot and my passengers are usually cold. I then added their large V mount to the ProClip.

This was for my Ham Radio initially but I found it works great with the belt clip on my cell phone when I am not using the ham.

The Ram mount X-grip, on a short arm, attached to a Ram ball that's bolted onto the audio/AC fascia has been the best for me after trying a number of other solutions.

This.

I searched and searched for a decent option that didn't require drilling and there wasn't one. You're drilling a trim piece that is replaceable if you're really concerned. I only had a few hundred miles on when I punched that hole through. Been working excellent.

Since this photo I've been able to adjust it a little better so I can actually see the entire screen from normal driving position. The picture is a Note 7 but I usually put my Note 8 (that took the picture) in there.

I like the easy on/off functionality of the magnetic mounts by WizGear. The one here has a ball joint for more adjustability. It's not the strongest mount in the world, but it holds an iPhone 7+ and Pixel 2 XL pretty easily.

I think the magnet mounts are the most convenient if you don't mind something mounted to your phone all the time. I had the tablet in my last rig mounted with a magnet. Allowed me to remove it easily for entering addresses or whatever. Plus I could just pull it down and set on the floor when parked in questionable areas.

That being said, can't use them on any of my phones as they interfere too much with the wireless charging and Samsung Pay functionality. That and I don't want anything mounted to my phone.

I have this phone mount i actually got from walmart for $50 by iottie. It doesnt use magnets, instead it has a button that is pressed when you place your phone in the clamp that snaps in place. It also is a wireless fast charger! I drilled a tiny hole and routed the wire into the dash then into a cigerette lighter that I also wired myself. I have a note 8 so it'll fit a pretty big phone if you have one. Clean, simple, and no messy wires!

What does it mount to? Hard to tell from the pic.

There is a suctioncup mount onto the dash. I can try to get a picture tomorrow but it looks like this. Its pretty low profile, i had a ram mount before but sold it to another member on here. Was going to fabricate a wireless charger onto the mount but decided against since it was already a pain to get my note 8 in the mount. there are videos of people adding a wireless charger online if anyone is interested.
