Center cap removal/install

Hi- i ordered a set of OEM center caps to replace my original set which was stolen on the streets of Chicago. However i'm having a hell of a time getting them installed. I searched the forum but couldnt find anything.

Does anyone have some guidance? I assume i leave the metal retaining ring inside the caps?

I assume the answer is not just forcing them on? Seems like the plastic will break if i push any harder.

Thank you.

The metal ring is a spring and keeps pressure on the "prongs" so the cap stays on, so you don't want to remove that. Just line it up properly and pop it on. It's going to be a pain to rotate/align after it's seats, so align it carefully before hand. I found that out the hard way :)

I am not sure how the temperatures are over there, but if it's really cold outside, maybe you want to keep it in the house for a while to warm up and make it more pliable before installing it.
