Center consol 2nd gen 5 spd

So my console has a really shallow tray in the midle, with a closing lid. Does anyone know if I were to cut the bottom out, would I have room to make a deeper space? Or would it be easier to swap it with something? Any ideas?

You sure it's not a two-compartment console? On some models you have a shallow top compartment, and then you tilt back the whole top section for another compartment below that. I didn't even realize mine had one until I bumped it one day.

Ill check it again, that would make a whole lot more sense then the dinky little tray it has....

It certainly does not have another latch. Im pretty bent over it too, it seems like a waste of space to me.

You have a rear seat heater inside your console. There is no extra room unless you gut all the rear heater out.

Yeah I was thinking about it on the way home and I figured that's why I had no space. looks like I have a project for the weekend!
