Center Console 1st-2nd gen interchangeable?

Title asked my question.. Are the center consoles of the 1st and 2nd gen 4runners interchangeable? They look about the same size and I got no definite answer from searching. I'm trying to keep it cheap for my girlfriend so a 250$ arm rest isn't gonna happen.hwell:

Her's is beat to poop. I'm guessing like most of ours.. It's an 1987 4runner I think. And it's been easier to find 2nd gens parted out.

iv got a 87 and a 95, both center consoles suck. no cup holders, too lo to rest your arm on, not much storage (less in the second gen). I used this one from walmart. fit right in no modification. and no gap for stuff to get between the seats. $30

after the one in my 89 Extended Cab 4x4 PU got stolen, I tryed the one above & it worked ok..... But it was too wide & every time you slid the seat forward it shifted out of place. (if you bolt it down, then it was a PITA to move your seat + you couldnt move the seats fully back)

Another issue I can see is if you have rear heat, it would need to be removed or the console modified....

I dont adjust my seats. I got them how i like them and they have no need to move. It does fit tight, less french fries falling between the seats

It was cheap and had to cut it short so the rear seats can fold down. I modified it a couple times. Now that I got my hands on a welder, I'm thinking of making one out of sheet metal, that is, whenever I can find the time. Here's mine installed-
