center diff, vcs/ trac off light issue

Te last couple time I've gone out and had to use the center lock, we were in some deep snow, after I disengaged it the vsc and trac off lights didn't turn off until i shut the truck off and turned it back on. My questions are 1) is this normal, 2) has anyone else had this issue and 3) what is the reason it is doing this. thanks in advance
