Hey man, sorry I've been out of town all week. Here is the link to the Midland I bought. In addition, I purchased a $20 cobra magnetic for the top to complete the system. I was really happy with the cleanliness of the instant install and with it's performance on the trail.

See I didn't want to permanently install anything, but I got sucked into it and ordered a small compact Uniden with a box to plug into the cigarette lighter. Wires were everywhere, box was bouncing all around and I wasn't having it.
This unit is literally just a plug into 12v, that's it. Each temporary install is super clean and very easy. One wire out of the cigarette lighter plug which splits into two - one is the mic cord, and the other plugs to Antenna of choice (small magnetic or something more extensive). Takes 2 minutes to set up and no crazy wires going everywhere as all of the controls are in the mic. I tucked the antenna plug to the right of the drivers seat so no one could see it and all you really have is a mic straight to your lap or console. Performance with the unit and my cheapo Antenna was hitting 2-4 miles on flat roads here at home. IT performed perfect for the trail ride as well. You can find youtube reviews on it pretty easily with a quick search. It's a solid little set up for what I need and would happily recommend to others.

Ok, back in town and weeded through the 300 photo's I took. Uploaded about 200 here for you guys...quite a few sequence shots as I shoot on a 7D and love to put those 6-8FPS to work. LOL Why not right? Hope this link works for you guys...

Also, one last thing. We really had a solid group of guys on the trail and I was considering a FB group for us to start, stay active in and build out even a few more folks. Curious as to how many of you use FB to interact with your fav hobbies?
I searched and there is a closed group called Virginia 4runners, with about 18 folks and he let me in. We could either all hit his group or start one (I'd be willing to create) and post the name here if there are enough folks who would find it useful. For me personally it would be more easily utilized for comms, pics and interaction than this thread and link us all together. Let me know.

Im still finding it hard to believe that the guy didnt want to move his truck and just left it there. As if his guidance at the top of the hill was going to save anyone of use from ramming his truck. Luckily no one did. Then they had the nerve to tell me to take it easy as i was going past his truck, up the rock face. I think not, throttle hard, power past the danger.

I'm the guy who was at the top of the hill.
I was on my way down and about to drop off the first ledge when your group leader started powering up the hill and told me to stop because he had 10 people behind him. Because groups going uphill have the right of way I precariously backed up the ledge.
I was leading a group of novices who couldn't quite figure out where to turn off and by the time I was able to make my reverse I think your group leaders got impatient and told me to leave my truck and started squeezing by. Now add that there are 10 trucks behind him trying to get up a hill.. the momentum was not in my favor to stop and try to find a better position.
Most of your group was incredibly respectful and crawled up the ledge slow, steady, and with ease considering lack of lift and lockers - only 1 or 2 chose to blast up the hill with little regard to safety or surroundings.

Hope you all had fun - it was great seeing such a huge mix of 4runners on the trail and the new guys with freshly painted 5th gens learning how to use what their trucks were made for!

Man Im glad you're on the forum here, as you do have a nice 5th gen and you are appreciative of trail riding. It seems that we share a lot of the same interests, Im also impressed at some of the newer model 4runners that was in the group going through the trails. On the other hand, I believe blasting up the hill like one or two of us did was by all means safe and considerate. I was one of those guys and I feel I did a great job making it through. I was totally in control and aware of what was in front of me, and the other guy is a very experienced trail driver and was bossing a manual transmission up that hill. I do apologize for coming over the top and startling the ladies that were behind your 4runner. I also appreciate what you guys did for our group, thank you for stepping to the side and allowing us to come through. You guys just added to the experience of our ride that day.

Thats what I did. N I was last so none of the rocks he stacked were holding. Lmao. I missed his truck by an inch. I'm sure I made him pucker up too. lol
