Ceramic Coating, is it worth it??

I already had the paint looked at. It IS perfect, and I was told that it needs no paint correction. I do not have the time or energy to detail this vehicle as with my age comes a bit of turbulence with it!
I would much rather go without the time and trouble to pain stakingly detail.

I wouldn't trust that detailer.

When the wrap comes off at the dealer, the car needs paint correction. After the lot boy (or girl) adds swirls taking the glue residue off (only in the obvious places) and slops some glaze on, the car will look good for a week or two until the glaze washes off.

At that point you'll see all of the swirls appear like magic.

Any detailer who says "you don't need paint correction" is a hack and you will end up with a sloppy job - although it might look perfectly fine for a few months just like that dealer crap.

I have a friend who has been doing many of my cars (probably six or seven) over the past years. To do PPF and ceramic costs me $950 - about half of what he normally charges when he does everything together. It usually takes all weekend.

Thanks for the advice. I have used this detailer on more than one vehicle and have known them for years. I am not going to doubt what I am being told.
It will be a learning experience and I am very keen on the technic and what I am looking for.

FWIW the pictures don't really show the benefits of a ceramic coating. What you're seeing is primarily the paint correction. You can get the same depth/gloss from any typical combination of quality glazes, sealants, and waxes.

Those results come down to prep. If the paint isn't perfect or the detailer doesn't do a phenomenal paint correction then you aren't going to get those results regardless of what products you put on top.

Plus, keep in mind, you can wax and spray ceramic on top on the ceramic coating to make it shine even more and last even longer. Wax does not last long enough for me. I don’t have half a day to spend waxing every other month.

I agree 100%. You are preaching to the choir. I am really not sure if these individuals are for real, or if they are just going by what they have been told and have seen.
I have seen the final product and am amazed as to how NICE it looks. I am not going to miss my chance, especially since the detailer is running a special in my location....

Although I would never pay these prices to have it done, I went ahead and did it myself...I did spend the time to properly polish with a dual action polisher...had about 6 hours for the whole job. I used the CQuartz products.

Am happy with it so far...much easier to keep clean, and water flys off with a leaf blower when drying.

I just spent 40 hours buffing polishing and used Adams ceramic coating. My paint still is not perfect but it’s a 2016 with HEAVY HEAVY Pin striping and this vehicle is not babies.. I did it hopefully to make it easier to wash after adventures. The paint feels “hard” to the touch which is great. I would not pay to have it done myself but I think it’s worth the effort

OK, I should have mentioned that this 3 year (coating) job I am looking at having installed on my 2020 along with the front windshield will be around $700. The coat is FEYNLAB and from what I have seen and researched it is tops.
I know the folks at the spa that will do it.
Prior to trading my 07 4Runner, they detailed the exterior, and did a super job! SO, the quality is there, as I am still trying to see if it is worth it. The 4runner being brand new, I would think the benefits would outweigh the cons when it comes to getting this done........

To me a ceramic coat makes sense for supercars/showcars... My buddy started using the spray on Meguiar's wax in the blue bottle. Its "ceramic" coat but holy cow its impressive for a non-professional application. First time requires wiping it on by hand, and after that it just requires a spray on before doing the final rinse.

I'd coat any car I have that has nice paint. A bottle of c quartz is 60 to 80 bucks and once applied lasts a few years. Water still runs off after 2 years on me I'll 4runner before I traded it in. Good prep is key. If your getting a new ride, do it ASAP.

Its been since July! Luckily the installer is a vendor of ours and helped out on the price a bit. I have been using the Carpro Reload after washes but found that Feynlab also makes a detailer spray. The Feynlab spray is a bit easier to wipe off and will probably end up using that after all washes now.

I just got done with a full FEYNLAB job complete! I am very happy, and am glad I didn't listen to any of the saps on here that thought it was a waste of money. In the long run, I think it is going to be very beneficial.

One possibility: if you took pics with your phone with the live mode on they will not download. You need to take the live mode off.
Anyway, glad to here you got it done. White has a paint problem as do most of the other colors, so, this should make it stand up better to the elements.

I am looking for a good microfiber drying towel. I got my eyes on a set of 3 on amazon. Just trying to keep up the appearance years down the road.
Also trying to get an idea on spray on maintenance. It ain't cheap I know, but in the long run I am sure this will pay off.

We bought a 2011 4runner limited in very very good shape . Worst thing ....there are several small dings n dents that my body guy is gonna have pulled with dentless repair.
I already purchased a ceramic kit from Adams n plan on applying it after it comes back from the shop.
I did ask my body guy about his opinion on ceramic coating...he stated....if you have flawless vette,Lamborghini or such...he'd do it. The biggest reason he didn't recommend it was....if you need future body work done...its a bear to get paint to adhere since the ceramic coat fills in the pores so well...
I still think I'm going to apply it when it's all said n done....
