Change auto-dim on rear view mirror?

Does anyone know whether there is a way to change the default setting on the auto-dimming rear view mirror on the 4th Gens?

I find that in most circumstances it is too dark, and I would like it to default to off rather than on when I start the truck.

Obviously, I can manually turn it off, but I'd rather not have to do that every time I drive.

I don't think there is a way to do that, unless you unplug it. Do you hang anything from your rearview mirror that maybe blocking the sensor from accurately measuring the amount of light? That could be why it is so dark. The reason I ask is because I know my parking pass once did that.

There are light sensors in front and in back. I believe the mirror dims when the sensor pointing to the front of the car detects less light than the one to the rear. It should self calibrate assuming there aren't any obstructions. To make it dim a bit later you could try partially obscuring the rearward facing sensor with some electrical tape.

One sensor is on the back of the mirror, facing the front of the truck. The other one is next to the green light on the bottom, facing the rear of the truck. They are small round indentations.

They're the little holes in the mirror casing.
