Changing coolant?

I had to yank the RAD to put the belts on and the guy at Autozone told me I needed green antifreeze. I have never flushed a RAD before and some of my vehicles had 250K on them. Since I needed to drain the rad and remove it I did and it was a pretty solid rust color kind of like mud in consistency. I flushed it out with tap water and refilled it with green and drained it and then refilled it again. I just read on here that Toyota Red is what is supposed to be used and it is incompatible with Green antifreeze. The post was saying to flush the heater core if changing coolant types. I have no idea how to do this but I am guessing I need to. Is this really an issue and how do I flush the heater core?

What you did is fine green is fine for our trucks

Thanks I found some really detailed post on another sight that said it would cause terrible corrosion of the heater core and engine and that it was incompatible with Toyota red and would cause even more problems. I started to feel like I was back in the SC Benz again with a high maintenance car.
