Changing my fuel filter

This Sunday my friend and I decided to change my fuel filter. I needed my friend help because I just had surgery on my hand and could only use one. Well it looked like a 30 minute job but turned into a 3 hour job. The line that goes from the filter to the engine would not come loose. We had all the proper tools, but we could not get it to budge. Finally it gave way but was still a pain to keep unscrewing. The other side was fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

did you happen to use any penatrating oil? I'm doing my soon. I try to use the oil as much as possible on under carriage parts. hows the weather in spokane? it's raining AGAIN here in Tacoma

yea, it took a little longer than expected but I didn't have that much trouble. But then again, i sprayed it with PB Blaster and waited like 30 mins.

the real hard part if putting the new one in and trying to tighten it down. it took me about 5 to six times to finally have no leaks.

Yeah my friend used WD40 to try to losen it up. It didn't work though. I don't live in Spokane yet, in Feb. my wife and I are moving there. I finally got out of the Army and she is still in the Air Force and got stationed at Fairchild AFB.

yea man, thanks for your service to our country. I got out in April of 07 from the NAVY.

I think spraying PB Blaster the night before you try to change the fuel filter will help you out tremendously.

mine changed out just fine. what did you guys torque to the manual said the banjo fittings to 22lbs. are those called banjos? havnt heard that term before lol. i did roughly that. idk what i did really ive stripped brake nut things so i was being carefull.

i bet that would extend the life of any vehicle to have it permanent. what happens when it gets dirty? SOL get a new runner? i really dont believe that.

to be changed every 60,000 or 48 months according to my Haynes manual

We change them only if there is something in the fuel tank, like rust or things like that...

In 10 years at the dealer, I've changed fuel filters only 2 or 3 times.

Make a call to your dealership, they should know better than Haynes if you should replace the filter...

Hi, I'm a new user. My car just died the other day on the freeway. I've replaced my alternator and battery, spark plugs and spark plug wires about a month ago and my car was running fine now all of a sudden this. I'm sure it has to do with my fuel filter and or pump . Do you think there's a possibility I don't need to change the fuel filter and should just go straight to the pump?

I don't think a filter would cause your vehicle to just stop running after running fine.

That said, I wouldn't just replace your fuel pump either without some trouble shooting...
