Changing the look of my 97 white SR5

Well here is the 97 I just bought. This is a third vehicle for the family that will get driven a couple times a week back and forth to town and during hunting season. Im going to black out the emblems and am thinking about adding a grill guard. Does anyone have a white 3rd gen with stock rims painted/powder coated black? Im thinking about doing that. What about pics of that and ones with grill guards? The paint is in pretty good shape do yall think it would show if I removed the pinstripe decals? I would like to remove the running boards but one of the reasons I bought it was so my wife would drive it to work a couple of times a week to keep mile off her new car. Im not sure she would drive it much if I took the boards off.

Lots of good build threads on here. Check out my build thread, I had a grill guard on mine. They look cool but search the forums for a bunch of opinions...I think they are damage multipliers.

I LOVE the Satoshi grill mod! Im trying to find a link to the orh a iginal 4runner.org article but all links ive found are no good anymore.

Parts are relatively cheap to do the Satoshi...the most expensive part is the Toyota emblem for the middle. There are 20 different ways to do it, there are multiple threads about it. Google "3rd gen 4runner satoshi grille" and you'll get plenty.
Including the emblem, you're looking at about $75 ish to do it. The first one I did cost the most because I had to buy the bondo and fiberglass kits. After that initial cost, they're cheaper cause all you need is mesh, paint, and ties.

The wheels are tundra/sequoia wheels and are 17". The tires are 275/70R17.

I like the looks of yours with the non painted wheels. Is that the stock lower bumper just trimmed at an angle?

How long have you had the bumpers and rockers plasti dipped? Has it held up?

I used a dremel to cut the lower variance. It is plastic. Plasti Dip is doing really good. Still looks good after four months.

Well I snagged an FJ40 emblem on ebay for a good price, so ill have a new grill soon! I need to pull those gold pin stripes (actually more of a big sticker, the stripes are not individual) ASAP. Im guessing heat gun and pull for removing the decals?

It looks like factory flaps, just trimmed and bed lined.

I dont know if im crazy about them or not. They are gold just like the SWEET gold emblems lol. I think for now im going to pull the running boards and see what that does for the look. Hopefully I can find some mud flaps for the front to protect the rocker panels from gravel.

lol My dad's has those stripes and it took me awhile for them to grow on me. I think his are silver/grey/gold I dunno. Mine has the sweeeet gold emblems but I've removed most of them and/or blacked them out.

If you do remove the pinstripes, you'll have a noticeable difference in color. However, a few hours of hard work and you'll never know they were there.
