Chaotic Shifting

Im at a loss.

Problem = After probably like 30 to 45 minutes of driving my truck will go into a crazy shift pattern. 1, 2, OD, 3, OD, Torque lockup.

Things Ive tried and when it started. New TPS, adjusted TPS. I can play with the gas pedal to make it get out of OD after second gear. This all started after replacing the HG when they blew. Ive had three transmissions in this truck so I know its not that.

Im just looking for ideas.

Sounds like shift solenoids...

Or connections on the TPS cable - check the cable at both ends (TPS and computer), maybe ohm it out?

Its done the same thing to three transmissions two of them were rebuilt. I really dont think its the transmission.

What all controls shift points.

1. ECM
2. TPS
3. VSS
4. ?

Did they replace the solenoids when they rebuilt the tranny? Or did they just replace the clutches and clean out the valve body...

Are there any codes on the dash? A/T light? brake light? O/D light? Those are what came up when my solenoids went bad. Have you tried to shift manually?

Two of the transmissions are the latest ones. Both are not original and yes everything was replaced.

No codes on the dash I will try and shift manually next time it does it.

Good luck, doesn't sound fun. I got lucky with mine. My dash used to light up like a Christmas tree.
