2 bad radiator caps - one w/ new radiator and one from autozone.
I have been chasing the reason for no pressure in the cooling system on my 2003 v8. The radiator was replaced about 10k miles ago, and I have never had an issue with the gauge even moving off the mid range of the scale, but did notice that pressure was not building. The cap that came with the radiator must have been leaking - venting pressure out the overflow line. No water leaks. I pressure tested the system and found no leaks. Bought another no vent cap from autozone. Still no pressure. None of the rental places here have the adapter needed to test a 44mm small radiator cap - but you would not get 2 bad caps...right? Wrong. In frustration I bought a vented Stant from the garage by my house and wa-la! pressure!
What a PITA. Maybe the new radiator neck is slightly off?
