Cheap DIY rock lights?

Ok, so I have this crazy idea to make my own rock lights with some ebay LED strips. You can get a roll of flexible waterproof leds for cheap. If you add your own switch, you have a full rock light setup. :smokin:
What's everyone's thoughts on this? I know ebay stuff is not on the high quality side to say the least, but I wouldn't feel bad about them getting killed on a trail.
Most of the wheeling I do is in the dark so they would be a nice addition.

I think I might buy a roll to play around with it. Even if it doesn't work out, I'm out like $20.

They have even cheaper stuff if you make a water prof box for it!

Kind of the route I took. Deference being I bought the strips from autozone then wired them up. Still came out cheaper then buying a kit. And like you said don't really care if I beat them.

I did this, I bought some cheapo eBay lights and they work great, bright too, however I think I'm gonna buy another set and splice Em in just for some more light

I've thought about adding them on mine, but keep thinking if I need underneath illumination at night, I'd be better off just handing my
spotter a headlamp, or flashlight. If I'm going to use them for myself,
they won't do me much good anyway while i'm sitting in the vehicle.

How often do you(those that have them) use them?

I use mine a lot, not just for night wheeling. They are nice to use if I'm loading or working on the runner in the dark, or setting up camp etc. I have a vision-x kit but wish I had pieced together my own to save $$$.
