Cheap easy dog proof bumper project

The 4r trail bumper is slipper and easily scratched when the dogs load up. To prevent scratching I decided to put some "truck bed liner" on the bumper. It was really easy and turned out good. I used Rust-oleum truck bed coating. The best part is it looks factory and gives the bumper a flat look(should be easy to fix if it scratched!). I think I'm gonna do my front plastics next. All i did was tape off the bumper and scuff it up with 180 grit, and paint 4 coats. Putting plastic everywhere is important as the rattle can coating gets all over. See attached pictures.

Neat idea! I have the same issue as you know the factory bumper is easily scratched, may have to try this one out.

I am a bit relieved as I initially thought this was about a dog-proof front bumper for the neighborhood!

Nice idea! I don't have the dog issue but load/unload a lot of trail clearing equipment in & out (chain saws, logs, crude farming implements) and have nicked it a couple of times.

Sweet job, I'll be getting my LE soon and I'll be using it as a dog hauler, I live in Vegas too so maybe we can meet and have a closer look at it.

Nice job Rudy, looks like it came that way! I used that paint on my storage box- it's tough stuff.

Nice work. I want to do this also. Do you recommend spraying in place like you did or will the plastic unbolt easily and lift off so I could spray it and then reinstall? Thanks for your advice!

Looks good. This is something i might try myself.

Is that a scratch in the coating already? If so, did that happen after the spray cured? How flexible is the coating once fully cured? Since the plastic is flexible I'm wondering about the coating flaking off due to flexing and expansion/contraction due to temperature changed.
