Cheap maintenance for these cars?

If a warranty claim needed to be filed they could claim 5 miles of towing means 'used for towing' as a way to hassle you. At 5000 miles worth of towing there's no doubt you should maintain it to the towing standard.
I have thought about this and edited this: I would change the axle and t-case at 15k. It still has the original fluid in the axles and t-case. During breakin the oil gets hotter than normal and some extra metal shavings. This is especially true for you as you work your T4R by towing. Get the beat up, metal flaked oil out by changing it at 15k. After the initial change a 15k change should be done as long as you keep towing. And yes, I would do my t-case at 15k then as prescribed.
The transmission should be done at 60k and that interval is probably just fine.

Something else I noticed, too...
IF I'm reading the guide krektly, I don't need to do timing belt til 90k, and Spark plugs until 120k?
Just seems so... long to do this stuff...
Or... maybe not... Our Explorer Sport didn't require plugs til 100k (did 'em at 85k anyway), and it doesn't have a belt...
Idunno... it just seems like the 4Runner doesn't need much to maintain it correctly.
Don't get me wrong... I ain't complaining... I'm just not used to it.

As far as the plugs are concerned I would do them at 4-5 years and under 80k miles. The plugs will work fine and the motor will run well to 120k. I get nervous about leaving them in too long due to potentially getting corroded and stuck. That's just an IMHO, many may just let it go to 120k.

Mobil 1 is NOT an acceptable alternative to WS fluid. The viscosity is different among other things.)
