Check engine light, evap codes popping up!

I bought a used 2008 4Runner about 7 months ago with 67K on the clock. This vehicle was trouble free until recently. I started getting my check engine light come on @ times ON START UP with different codes @ times, but mainly evap codes, mostly P0441, P0455 minor and major evap leak, but today with P0441 incorrect purge flow.

I am a long time mechanic but not as familiar with Toyota as I would like to be. I worked on them professionally back in 1990-1992. I have my own code reader, but it won't perform and activations or read live data. I did a little research and the answers to my questions seem to vary from the all to common gas cap to evpl solenoid and or type of fuel I use!

I now have 78K on it and am wondering if it is a evap problem, is it covered under the 8/80 emissions warranty. The codes only come up on start up which tends to tell me it may be electrical, but not sure as Toyota does things a little different sometimes. Up until today the codes have always been evap leak codes, now with the purge flow code I am second guessing myself. Has anyone had anything like this happen and what fixed it? I figured this would be my best chance at finding out whats going on with my 4Runner. Thanks

Did you do a full check of all the evap and vacuum lines, also check the gas cap Oring (seal)

If you're getting the check engine, VSC, A-TRAC on lights after start up. Might want to check your gas cap.

There should be a "springy" resistance when turning the cap off, if it doesn't feel secure when turning the cap off, then might be a bad gas cap. Replace it then disconnect the battery for 10mins, reconnect battery and start the truck again to see if the lights comeback on.

I had the same issue with my 05. Got minor and gross leak EVAP codes. did some reasearch and ended up buying a new Toyota OEM gas cap on Amazon for 20 dollars. Replaced it and have not had any issues since.
