I have owned my 2004 T4R for almost a year. For the past couple of weeks my car smelled like socks - strongest when I ran the heat (and AC, which comes on while set to Auto). I thought it might be mold and condensation after reading about a similar odor on these forums.
Last night I decided to take out the filter behind the glove box, it was so full of debris (insulation , leaves) that I had a hard time pulling the tray out. Underneath the debris (which was probably a nest) were two tiny, completely dried out mice. Gross.
I've replaced the filter with a DIY 3M filter cut to size, sprayed a lot of Ozium into the intake vents and let it run on high for 20 minutes with all the windows down. I really hope that does the trick.
