Chopping out sunroof question ?

A salvage yard near me Has a crashed 2001. The motor and trans are already in bubble wrap, the bones are mostly picked clean. I'm thinking of offering to buy the moon roof. My plan, is just to drill a hole and use a battery sawzall and cut the whole thing out in one piece.

The moon roof in my 1999 limited stopped working for the previous owner. Toyota owners site reported that the original owner took it in for repair and declined $1600 repair of bands. I have the part numbers.

Wondering if this is a good idea?
Also, are 2001 and 1999 the same?

I got to hit this soon before it goes in the compacter.

You don't need the whole sunroof.

Fix the problem with yours.

Could be

1 Bad motor
2 dirty rails
3 frozen hinges
4 seized cables
5 Bad electric switches

Find out what you need and get the appropriate part from the junk yard.
