Christmas gift: remote start recommendations?? or something else?

Alright guys, need your help on some recommendations for a remote start for my 06 4runner.

My fiance has decided that she didn't want to get me a new road bike, so next thing on my list was a remote start for the truck. lol

I really have no problems with the current alarm system on the truck, so if it is possible just to get a remote start and maybe get a new key fob while still keeping my current system, i wouldnt mind that.

Or depending on the cost, i would not mind getting a new system all together.

I live in cali, no snow here and my truck is always garaged at night. The coldest day will maybe be like 25F in the morning. So no extreme weather. I am also open to other suggestions instead of the remote start.

Here are a list of mods I want to do:
1. New rims w/ BFG tires w/ daystar lift (probably hold off on this till i need new tires).
2. Full exhaust system - Borla (I have a flowmaster muffler already on there, pretty loud already w/ the volant, but do want to do a full exhaust system down the line).
3. Double din w/ navigation and back up camera.
4. Lighter console mod
5. Rear license plate LED lights
6. Remote Start

The budget: $200.00 - $300.00

Thanks in advance,

Hardeep

I have the smart start. It works via an app on your phone. No key fobs or anything.

I have thought about that one. Had a lot of people saying there was a big delay and too many times to click ok an all.

If you dont mind me asking, How are you liking that? Does it work pretty well?

I like it. I don't have to be in range. There isn't a huge delay. The app on phone sends a signal to a server which sends it back down to car. When people talked about the delay, I always say, you are auto starting it to warm up or cool down. You're not getting in it right away so what's an extra 5-10 seconds.

I used to live in CA but moved to Denver 3 years ago. It's nice to be able to start the car while on the bus from the airport to the parking area.

Just something nice to have overall. I dont think the 5 seconds or so really bother me much. At work, i park quite far away and in the summer, we have about 3 months of 100F plus so wouldnt actually be nice to get it and car be cooled down by then. How much was the unit, plus installation? I am not handy enough to mess around with this stuff.

All together on my old car it was almost 500 but I had to have an extra part that was 150. I just got a 2006 4runner and haven't taken it to have it reinstalled.

Thanks man, appreciate your help. Definitely going to be considering this one.
