Chrome door handles

Everything Luxury said is true about theses door handles. I purchased mine from Jason B. He is someone I recommend highly. What I did to rectify the problem with the smaller pieces was to use all purpose GOOP. This will basically never come off. If you feel that someday you might want to remove them, you'll have better shot if you use the 3M tape.

Now for the handle piece not wrapping completely around, you can add a small amount of GOOP in the tip area to keep it in place. You might have to hold it for a few minutes but it's worth it. Here is a shot of mine. Hope you like....

Bad: However, three of the four back pieces are not sticking well at all. 2 not at all. It is like the 3M tape isn't even touching the door. I think I am going to try to remedy this by adding another piece of 3M tape, that I hope to purchase tonight. For some odd reason, the piece with the key hole fit better than the piece without.

Bad: The pieces don't wrap around the handle like I had hoped. Thus, they are less secure and I can feel a slight lip on the edge of them.

Good: In a way this is a subtile difference that I don't think many people will even notice, but from an overall perspective, it makes my 4runner look more like a luxury SUV, to match the leather and NAV

I agree, I would definitely recommend Jason B. I have never used GOOP before but it sounds like good stuff. I love these handles and don't plan on taking them off, but I was tentative on using anything that would most likely hurt the paint below. The reason, I don't know. After work yesterday I went to Pep Boys and bought some 3M Automotive tape. I talked to the sales guy and he said this is the second level up on the sticky scale. The two levels above what I used are apparently termed something like "takes the paint with it sticky". So I took the paint safe route, but am risking loosing them. The key hole piece wasn't stuck as well as I thought, so I took it off and added more tape. It is the only piece I am very worried about because I don't have a spare. I am going to keep a close eye on it and if it gets any looser than I will go out and get some GOOP or stronger 3M tape. FYI the tape was ~$5, and came with plenty for many projects.

Here is another angle. Keep in mind that the chrome handles without the key hole look even better. For some reason AKA.HULK and I just posted pics of the drivers handle. See the link I gave previously for some pics of the none key-hole version installed.

Are the Sport Handles painted silver or is that the color of the plastic?

I am getting ready to do a real job on my 2003. I've spent the last month on this forum getting ideas and planning. This has proven to be a great resource. I will post pics soon.

I'm a little confused by your question, but I'll try and answer it. I assume you are talking about the pic of the silver handles on the blue 4runner that I posted above. My impression is that the handles look painted. I don't think they could get this same finish if it was the color impregnated in the plastic. Correct me if I misunderstood.

Welcome to the forum. I love it when people join that are doing lots of mods. I can't wait to see what you have planned. I don't know what you have in mind but my latest idea for these handles is to take off or buy the handle and have it chromed. I think that would give the cleanest, most durable, better touch, and best way of achieving the same look that I got with the covers. Albeit, more work and probably a little more expensive.

I noticed that you manually entered a signature. It is pretty easy to have the forum automatically do it. Click the user cp button near the top of any screen and then click edit profile, then you'll see a field for signature and you can put whatever you want. Some of these things took me a little while to figure out, so I thought I would share. I still don't know the answer to how to post multiple pics in one post. I've explicitly asked and I'm still guessing, maybe you can only do it if they are hosted somewhere else.

Yes, that was my question. Thanks for the info. I am looking at getting those painted silver to match the T&H stainless color. I think that chrome would look funny with the stainless.

Check with Noloc before anyone orders these covers. He may have found a way to get actual Chrome door handles (not covers) from Shuei in Japan via Japanparts.com. I am a bit skeptic that they aren't just covers. Strictly are random guess on my part that is probably wrong (my only basis is some pics on shuei's website). I think they are over $150 though, maybe close to $200.

BTW, mine rub a tiny bit on the transition between the two sides of the handle on one of the rear doors.

I just realized I don't know if you were refering to the chrome or the silver.
