Did the ISR mod on my 1997 with the 99+ intake conversion. Used a janky short ram intake tube I found off a '99 at the junkyard. Cost me less than $3 :)

Well, quite a bit has happened since November. The most exciting is that I have an amazing adventure pup now! Her name is Eris and she's a 2 year old Texas Heeler. She's totally transformed into the sweetest little girl and she's the perfect size to take in the truck :)

Can't forget that I found a R150F so I can 5-speed swap Becky!! The plan is to rebuild it, swap it into Diamond, then rebuild Diamond's 406k mile trans, and then put it in Becky. I have a pile of parts in the basement! Only things I need are the front driveshaft, interior shift boot, and eventually a manual ECU

I also got this new self inflating mattress the other day. I'm excited to try is out! My old 2" Thermarest just wasn't cutting it any more. Guess I'm getting soft lol

It's 4" thick, so I have lost a little headroom, but I think it'll be worth it

Very nice update.
and
Those ears though!

I just read this whole thread. This 4runner sure has taken the OP some places. Some real scenic country too.

Can we get an updated rundown of what you have done to the suspension on this thing? For the majority of the thread, I was under the impression you kept the suspension mostly stock. It looks like it performs well without being too crazy.

Also, curious what you think of the new tires compared to the BFG's you ran the majority of the time.

Anyway, I enjoyed the read. :snacker:

On both of mine, I have OME struts, 881 springs (2.5" lift stock weight), and 1/4" top plate spacers to counteract the sag from the bumper/winch and give me a little more down travel. Not super ideal with the spacer because my UBJ is the droop limiting factor.

Rear are OME 891 (3" lift +150 lbs) springs and OEM 80 series land cruiser shocks. Fun truck has 1.5" spring spacer and work truck has 20mm OME spacers. Fun truck has homemade rear control arms with poly bushings on axle side and Johnny Joints on the frame side. 1996-98 pre-recall bump stops with a 1.5" drivers extension and limiting chains to stop the driveshaft from hitting the gas tank when flexed out.

No sway bars on the fun truck and front only on the work truck.

I don't have my hub to fender measurements on hand but I believe the front is 1.5" over stock and the rear is 2.5" over stock on the fun truck. Work truck is about 0.5" higher due to less weight.

The suspension has about 3.5" up & 4.5" down travel in the front. 9" down and 10" up in the rear.

I absolutely LOVE the Falken Wildpeaks. There's a reason why I have 2 sets and convinced my dad to buy a set as well. Sooooo much better than BFG on dry pavement, wet pavement, and road noise. Both are great in the snow and so-so in the mud & rocks.

Got a few pictures to post. I might post more eventually. Been real busy at work and projects.

Welded up the hoops on the fun truck! Only took me a year to get the bumper finished lol

Just did a lot of work to Becky. 130k mile free steering rack, used 01-02 steering rack guide, Sankei 555 tie rod ends, oil change, trans fluid change, belts, brake pads, suspension grease. Should be driving a bit better now :)

Next projects are a minty rear hatch and eventually a windshield & 5 speed swap.

Haven't had to do much to Diamond here lately. Coming up on an oil change soon.

Oh yeah, I finished most of the limited interior conversion. I need to find another leather door panel and she'll be looking good :)

I bought me a 1991 Xtra Cab!! It burned a few years back when GF's dad didn;t hook the fuel lines up correctly. So far, I have almost all the parts to get it going except fuel injectors, charcoal canister, 3 wheels, and 2 tires. It's in really good shape! No rust except for the seam in the bed floor on the driver's side is almost totally rusted out. I plan to use it to haul stuff around and the 4wheeler after I hopefully buy a friend's house this upcoming spring.

I'm replacing all the hoses and timing chain while I have it torn apart. Hopefully it'll be running in the next couple months. It's hard to work on it with it being 2.5 hours away from home.
