Chudiddy- Inferno TRD PRO Build

I looked at a couple posts to try to find a good answer to this question, but given the amount/experience you show with the LED's, I thought you might be the best person to ask. What is it about the Rigid lights that makes them so much better/more expensive than the other brands out there that are 1/10th of the cost? Thanks in advance.

I've been getting a lot of PM's regarding how I hooked up the switches so I figured I would provide a brief explanation. I cannot take credit for this install but I have a friend that I have known for years who is the absolute ONLY one I trust to touch any of my cars. He is a true genius when it comes to this stuff and he never ceases to amaze me with what he comes up with. In any regard he wrote this explanation up for me so I am passing it along.

FWD:

Yes, I did cut out the back of the factory pocket to fit all the wires. The Apocalypse light switch powers all the relays at once. I diode isolated them all so as to prevent backfeeding when a single switch is used. Basically taking the output of the Apoc switch and splitting it 5 ways w/ diodes, and running these wires to the relay triggers of remaining light switches.
As for the light switch bracket, this is what was used Amazon.com : Blue Sea Systems Contura 6 Position Switch Mounting Panel : Boating Electrical Equipment : Sports & Outdoors. I filed down the edges so it would fit inside the opening where the pocket was. I screwed this into the dash from the inside where the switches snap in, and also used hot glue from the backside to make sure it would not come loose.

Hey man, I've got a quick question for ya! I want to do something very similar with my upcoming light setup. So for the wiring, you ran the wire from the relay to the switch with a diode in between, and then did you make a jumper for each switch wire, solder them all together and wrap them, and then run that one wire to the activating pin on the final Apocalypse switch? Thanks!

A few more updates:

So I said I wasn't going to lift it but the mod bug got the best of me. Ended up getting this Toytec lift kit. `Before I got the lift kit, I went with BFG All Terrain KO2's in 275/70/17.

Here it is in it's current state and I think I am finally happy with the stance and suspension setup. As others have stated a millions times, this is how it should have came from the factory (as far as the lift goes). I was able to sell the 275's for exactly what I paid for them and got 285/70/17 KO2's and I think it came out perfect. No spacers and more importantly, no rubbing at all. I couldn't be more happier. I still want to do a few more things and I should be done with it. I am going to swap the 2 LED bars with the Midnight Series for a more stealthy look, add Alley lights to each side, fender flares, and quite possible the rear CBI bumper without the swing out. And finally the supercharger when TRD releases it in the year 2025. LOL​

I love them. They are bright as heck. I just need to realign them. They are pointing too far down.

Really nice build.

I'm looking to replace my factory fogs with Rigids, however, I'm new to Rigid and hoping you can provide some guidance.

I understand the D2 wide/driving are not DOT approved and may be/are illegal, but I'd prefer to have the amber lights for fogs. How are you currently using your fogs? Do you use them on a regular basis (in town)? If so, do you get flashed by other drivers? Or, are you only using them in a limited fashion? I usually have my fogs on all the time, and really prefer to get the amber light, but don't want to be blinding other drivers.

Do you have experience with both the driving and wide patterns? If so, which one would make a better fog light, or is it truly personal preference? I'm hedging toward the driving pattern.

I ALWAYS drive with my fogs on so when I got the amber D2's in the foglights and first turned them on, I thought they were really bright and would blind oncoming drivers. I also thought they would draw a lot of attention. After driving with them, I've gotten flashed maybe 2-3 times in the last month or so but I think they were more for my headlights since I am about 3 inches higher with the lift and tires. I don't regret the Ambers one bit. I love the look of them and they match the other amber lights perfect.

As for patterns, if you really want them to be effective as a "fog light" then I suggest the wide pattern since you want the beam to "cut" through the fog so-to-speak. I'm by no means an expert on lighting but I find the wide pattern to be more effective. Good luck with your decision.

I installed the rack last night with the help of a friend and it took us about 3 hours total. I have to install the fairing yet and will do that tonight. Overall, it came out exactly as I envisioned it. I absolutely love the Gobi Stealth rack and can't speak enough about it. Anyone on the fence, just go get it. I had it on my 4th gen and although i thought it looked badass on that, it looks even better on my TRDP. I was a little hesitant on putting the ladder on but I did and holy crap it looks badass. I went with a Rigid 40" RDS Curved LED Bar and 2 6" SR light bars in the rear (putting those on tonight).

As far as the hatch struts, they def will need to be upgraded to heavy duty ones. Luckily I had ordered those the same time I ordered the rack. I'll be putting those on tonight as well.

So overall, I'm really happy with the build and quality of the Gobi Stealth. Here are a few teaser pics for now. Ill post more once I get the fairing and the rear lights on. Enjoy!!

Hi, I ended up running the wires under the weatherstripping and down the driver's side windshield and into the engine bay. I'll try and snap a few pics and post them on here.

Yes to the Rigid midnight bars! They look amazing in the product photos. I wasn't wanting to go w/rigid but I'm really interested to see how much more the led bar blends into the dark gobi rack.

Very nice build. My TRDP will be pretty much identical in terms of mods. Just looking at the Toytec 2", Gobi, and winch. Thanks for posting pics to give me an idea!

Bushwacker Fender Flares
Swap current Rigid LED bar with Midnight Series
Midnight Rigid D2's in CBI Rear Bumper

Hopefully everything goes as planned and we don't run into any issues.​
