Cigarette lighter wire tap - wire location?

I apologize for having to post this question, but I've searched and not found the specific location.

For all of you who have tapped your cigarette lighter wire for accessory power, how did you get to the wire? Did you get to it from directly behind the lighter, or from near the in-cabin fuse panel? Thanks.

i have done it, but not using it right now, but doing from right behind the lighter is easy, just unplugged it and put male connectors on what i was plugged in.

Unplugged how? Do you mean you pulled the lighter out of the dash, socket and all? Thanks.

ok so if you pull the lighter from the dash, it breaks tabs that hold it in, so dont do that haha experience... but behind it there is a plug that are 2 female ends, plugs in, that are in an L shape. i thing the one that plugs in the center is power and the one to the outside of the plug is ground. just unplug it from the back, and or cut and rewire it for use of the lighter still. then put male ends on what you want plugged in, beings the ones that stick out, into the right plugs. then you have power to whatever you want.

Last question - How much of the dash did you have to remove to get to it? I'm fine with doing that if necessary, but I can't see a way to get to the back side of the lighter without removing some panels. Thanks.

Remove plastic around shifter, then remove plastic around radio, unplug your clock, ect, rear window, hazards. Then you can pull it out far enough to get to the lighter, and other ports

^^^ yes, but if you open the center console, pop the plastic out that the cup holders are in, pop off the plastic around the shiftier but dont need to take it all the way off, pull off the plastic around the radio, done. dont have to unplug anything from the back, just makes it easier for some things. taking the top plugs off lets you lat the plastic over in the passenger floor board.
