I bet if you look at this cars title there are multiple people on it and his name dont match any. Huge CL scam right now. Buy high mileage vehicle, clean it up, fix some stuff. ROLL BACK THE MILEAGE and resell. Be fishy of anything very low mileage these days.
 
It's possible. Checking it over would reveal tell-tale wear if it has much higher miles. The story that it was damaged, then subsequently overheated and parked, isn't unheard of.

Not everyone buys one vehicle and uses it exclusively. I have a 2002 vehicle which I bought new, that has 35k on it.

My 4Runner has only been accumulating <2k miles a year, for years now.
 
Almost 100% sure that's a scam, for three reasons:

1. The front seats have been replaced. Wear and tear is most evident here, why would one need to replace the seats on a 35k 4Runner? They are comfortable when new anyway.

2. Anyone can change the mileage on the mechanical odometer, it's super easy. Don't trust them.

3. A 35k 4Runner would sell for a LOT more than $5,800, more like $7,000 or more. Unless he's got something to hide that he's not sharing.

Stay away from this one.
 
Go look at it but be very skeptical. Overheating these engines is not good. I overheated mine & warped the engine bearings & had to have my bottom end rebuilt. These aren't old American big blocks that could handle a little (or alot) of heat. I knew my motor was well taken care of since I'm the only one that has owned it & the block wasn't cracked & had it rebuilt. This one probably needs a new (used) engine.

I saw where it said the front seats had cracks, not that they had been replaced.

If the leather was rarely or never conditioned over the last 19 years, that's certainly plausible.

My '97 has factory oak leather seats, that still look great. Having conditioned the leather on a regular basis since I bought it new, has made the difference.

As with anything, a potential buyer should do their due diligence, before buying..
 
Leather seats have cracks from the sun. Seller also said it sat for years, untouched. Untouched, in the sun? Why does the paint look so good? I also call BS..
 
Just ran the carfax on the plates. The last reported mileage was 99,000 miles in 2009. Says it's been exempt from mileage reporting ever since. 4 owners in it's life.

Ha! How can he expect to get away with such a scam? I guess a sucker is born every minute, but you are not the sucker in this one!

Nice find. If that's true you should call or email the guy and let him know that we know whats going on. Either he's lying, or the previous owner rolled back the miles and he is unaware. Either way, it should be reported as scam
 
If it was legit the price would be much higher, he's just asking a low price to try and get a sucker quick. Than engine bay looks less clean than mine and mine has 170k also.

This, or maybe even a local police department. This may not be the first car that he has done this too...

How sure are you on this? You have unlimited carfax access I'm assuming? Ill call his local pd and report it. I'm at home sick and have nothing better to do today anyways. And I cant stand thieves

This happens all the time, everyday, in every city. If you start with this one, then you will never stop. Its best not to be scammed in the first place. NTM its almost impossible to prove. Even when you do get scammed its almost impossible to get your money back or press charges. Just do you research and always use carfax.

Yeah, there's no proof that he rolled it back, for all we know he might have bought it rolled back and really thinks it only had 35k.

Dealers can get in big trouble for selling vehicles with the odometers rolled back, but I don't think you can nail a private seller unless you happen to catch him with the odometer out lol.
