Classics Go to Moab Part II

They haven't been lately... let me know as early as you can and I can try to plan for it.

do we usually get any days off around Columbus day? I shouldn't have much issue getting a few days off (just needs to be 5 days in advance) but I don't have the option of vacation.time. If I don't work, I don't get paid. That's almost a week of no pay. Almost $1500.

Just take Saturday off. Come down Friday night after work, wheel all day Saturday and Sunday, drive home Sunday night.

I'm not going to name any names, but I remember someone not wanting to traverse this off camber hill the first or the second time. That same person is jumping to go and I bet this trail wouldn't even phase him now.

Still scares the crap out of me just to look at it.

If you think you might be coming, let me know so I can update the list. This is the offroad trip of a lifetime!!!! A stock 4runner can do most of the trails in Moab, so don't be afraid to come just because you are not built for rock crawling. All you need is a solid set of AT tires. Other toys certainly help you on some of the more challenging trails, but are not required.

I think I'll order a CB finally then... Just trying to figure out a good place for it. will probably spring for a spacer lift and some shocks, and I'd like to build some sliders.

After reading through the entire thread (again)...<sigh>...I'm IN.

*But not this year.

In October, baby #3 will be 2 months old (wife due next month). Plus, my job has me out through hurricane season...so I'm gone from August to the first of the year. But, I want to do this! So 2014, I'll squeeze out some PTO, and bring my 6 year old boy out to Moab for the trip. He is absolutely obsessed with my Runner, and needs a trip like this with daddy. We have most of the supplies, and can gather what else we need...and this will give me a chance to enhance my Runner a bit.

So..see y'all in 2014...unless you plan a spring trip when business is slower.

He wouldn't let me wrench alone...and we spent an hour or more under it with him asking questions about what is what. He's my litttle engineer-brained daddy-clone.

Mike, have you checked out a portable cb? Look at the Midland 75-822 or Cobra Roadtrip. I have the Midland and a Wilson magnetic base antenna and I love it. No install needed, and you can store them in your house when you aren't using them. Seems like CB or ham antennas are magnets for tweakers looking for something to pawn.

I have the cobra road trip and love it. Not as cheep as a hard installed unit but nice to be able to use in whatever rig we are running or to use outside the truck if you are spotting someone.

The Gods have blessed Team Honey Badger, and there's a better than 50/50 chance I might/should be able to make the journey. There's still parts of the Moab I want to explore, and this might be my chance.

Note: I'll be solo - wife has had enough of the desert experience for awhile. However I'll run it by my club (Off Camber Crawlers), and see if anyone wants to team up for this adventure.
