Clear coat after plasti dip?

Just plast-dipped my grill and rear emblem, is a clear coat needed to protect it from chipping? Seen a few guys talk about it but it seems that most people just leave it as it is..

I left my wheels as is. I may do a clear coat though, the stuf is very peely around the edges and I could see me hitting a curb or something and it ripping right off. I might use rusto matte clear paint, it's pretty cheap and whats the worst that happens from it

Yeah i would definitely do it on the wheels, since they take a beating! And a glossy black look on the wheels look really good IMO. If it starts to chip, I'll just do another coat and clear coat it then. Thanks for the feedback!

Plasti Dip does offer a clear cloat product as well, not sure if you were aware this or not.
 
Found out if you use rustoleum over plastidip. . .the plastidip loses its "peeling off" ability. Better off just making sure you clean the surface well and put on several nice heavy coats. If you use rustoleum you will end up having to sand it all off if you plan on ever wanting to remove the finish.:yo:
 
Regular clear coat might not be such a great idea...Myths About Plasti Dip (Vol 1) - YouTube

I think it is recommended you use this, if you want some shine:

Interesting... Not sure I buy it though.

The clear coat goes on top of the plastidip and should peel right off with it if you get under the plastidip...?

Oh yeah sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that it would permanently ruin anything, but imagine trying to pick out all the tiny pieces from all the nooks and crannies? Pain in the rear indeed! :)

Well I don't what there is "to buy", as I have experienced this first hand. But cheers.
