Clear-Coat Safe Buffing/Polishing Compound?

Anyone know a great, very fine buffing/polishing compound that is clear-coat safe? Thanks!

not sure if they still make it (or maybe someone else does now)...

Clearcoat rubbing compound by Turtle wax.

It is a very fine abrasive cleaner...a white paste, comes in a white plastic container (at least it did when I bought it 5 years ago...)

I've never used it on my 4runner, but have use it on my Olds with decent results...

Whatever you do, don't use the red/brown rubbing compounds...it will strip the clear coat right off.

I believe 3M makes some products safe for clear coat...but never tried it...

Not sure what you are planning to do...but if you are just trying to smooth out the finish, you might want to start out with a clay bar...

I used it on my '98 Camry with good results.

If you want a machine polish then Griot's has that also:

But then you would also want a random orbital buffer and you can get a much better price on that from places other than Griot's.

If you read over at Autopia you will find that there are a number of other brands that many people use - Poor Boys, Menzerna etc.

I would stay away from anything called a "rubbing" compound this generally means it is for use during painting when you want to level a coat before applying another; they will leave a severe haze on your clearcoat if not just burn right through it.
