Clicking Brake Pedal

Thanks again for the reply. I really appreciate it. I am confused now. My situation is different as what is in question is only when the 4R is running, I am driving, and on occasion I can hear and feel the brake pedal click. Again all this when the vehicle is moving. Usually the brake pedal (when driving) never clicks. Today was only the second time this has occurred where while driving it would click every time I touched the brake pedal. Once I turned the 4R off and restarted and drove the click was once again gone. It can’t be normal normal if the click does not exist normally and pops up and once it does it continues clicking during the duration of the drive until the 4R is turned off. Isnt that odd? Doesn’t that mean the click should always be happening every time I touch the brake pedal??

Almost certainly the switch is clicking all the time when it is activated and you aren't noticing it all of the time

The switch must always be active at the pedal end, because the pedal doesn't know the position of the shift lever nor the status of the transmission; the switch clicks and sends a signal to the other end, but if you're not in Park there's nothing that happens because nothing is needed.

One is to cancel cruise control when you hit the brakes.
Also, when coasting downhill and you hit the brakes a few times the transmission downshifts into a lower gear (grade logic).

Since I saw this thread, I have paid painful attention to it. I am sure that it is not clicking most of the time. I do not feel it nor hear it. Rarely it starts happening, and I can't figure out a common variable. I am not using cruise control (never do), I am not coasting downhill. So you gentlemen have the click happening 100% of the time when the truck is in Drive and actually moving?

I actually *don't* hear the click mentioned at the top of the thread. Or at least it's rare I hear it--either I've lost hearing in that range or I have the radio too loud most of the time. I do hear a clicking when VSC engages--a fast clicking related to braking--but that's easy enough to observe that it should be easily distinguishable from normal driving.

You may be overthinking and overly worried about this. Test out all the conditions I mentioned in previous posts to see if the switch is functioning under its intended conditions. If it doesn’t cancel cruise control that’s an indication the switch is bad. Take it to the dealer. If it works, then let it be.

Thank you both. Since this thread I have been paying careful attention to the click in feel through the brake pedal. It is definitely not clicking 90% of the time. Its such that when I do hear and feel it, it feels as though something is wrong. Driving feel is the same. If I cycle the key, its gone again. I don't ever use the cruise control, but I will give it a shot to see if hitting the brake cancels it. If it doesn't, I'll take it as a telltale sign the switch is broken. Thank you. It can't be normal if I'm only feeling it once every so often. I think I will just mention it when I bring it in at some point. Thanks!
