try fleabay. That's where I got mine. If nothing, keep trying, they always pop up. Expect to pay about $100-200. Watch that it is exactly like yours (e.g. if you have dual climate, then a single climate control will not work...... I'm pretty sure Sports are single).
 
Does it matter what year vehicle the used unit comes out of? I've been looking at them on ebay and there are some slight differences. The '03 & '04 version just has "PASSENGER" listed in the upper right hand corner of the display section. The '05 & later versions have both "PASSENGER" and "AIR BAG" listed. Will an '03/'04 version work in my '05 ?

I appreciate any info you guys have. I just want to make sure the one I buy is compatible with my '05 Sport V6. Thanks in advance for all replies!

I believe the difference is that in 2005 they started using "advanced" airbags and some circuitry was changed. I had that aforementioned ebay HVAC and got an airbag light. So yes, try to get one from 2003-2004. As far as the HVAC funtions, YES, any year will work, but you will (more than likely) get an airbag light.

When looking on ebay, look to see that the display is identicle to yours if it doesn't say what year truck it's from.

Thanks guys. I called a few of the eBay sellers that had some of the cleaner/nicer condition climate control units and they're telling me that if the part came from any year other than an '05 then its not compatible.

I called my dealership and they said the parts numbers are different but they couldn't tell me anything about compatibility. I even called Toyota Customer Care and they couldn't provide me any info as far as compatibility of the units between model years.

I can't find a nice/clean climate control unit from an '05 4Runner but can find a lot from '06-'09 model years. Should I take a couple hundred dollar gamble that one from an '06-'09 will work?

Any more advice would be very very much appreciated !

I have an 03 with JBL
My dad has an 08 with JBL

If you'd like, I can try to plug his HVAC into my truck and see if it works. I won't be home will weds, but I can do it then if you'd like.

Thank you. I'd appreciate any help I can get. My '05 4Runner doesn't have JBL but if the '08 worrks in your '03 maybe that means they're all compatible. Thanks.

Anyone else have any suggestions or more info? Thanks!
