Clock Display 2015 Trail Edition

I completely agree. It's the most asinine and obnoxious display for any larger non-hybrid SUV. How did the dealership shut off the idiot eco bar on the display? It does not appear to be covered in the manual where it should be. Imagine that. Rhetorically speaking, would it be hypocritical to buy a '15 TE if someone believed in first world made up eco issues....

You can shut off the light in the dash display settings, to shut off the bar you need your dealer to do it or get a TIS tech stream software and cable (can purchase of Ebay/Amazon). I bought the cable but if that is the only setting you want to change I would go to the dealer and politely request that they turn it off at no charge.

If the dealer would balk at shutting off the eco bar tell him it is very disconcerting and might cause you to have an accident by drawing your attention away from your driving. If they still balk which they probably will not, suggest that they and Toyota may have some liability from the distraction if you are in an accident. I did not have to resort to such tactics as my dealer happily did this while setting up some of the other configurable items with his computer.

man.. i love the look of the center trail information display. is there a way you can get one installed on the limited or the trail model? seems like it's only available in the TRD

Not to beat a dead horse but i came across similar info in another thread regarding trim level specifics. Has anyone determined if the full center display is something that can be swapped out with a clock only display? From what i have seen, the Trail's (some?) and TRDPro's have the full display whereas my Sr5 has the clock only. I have to admit i was bummed when i saw that i only had the clock but now that i know other trim levels/models have it, it would be a great little upgrade.

Also, thanks for those that have pointed out the dealer can turn off the eco light/bar!

Since 2015 "none" have that feature

On my 2015 LE the eco lamp can be disabled in the settings screen of the lcd display. No dealer required.

Yes the light can be turned off by yourself, if you want the slide bar turned off its a dealer fix. To see what is looks like with out the Eco sliding graph, put the shifter in sport mode or manual shifting, it turns off, switch back to normal shifting it returns. Much cleaner with out it IMO.

It also turns off if you're going faster than about 85-90 mph, so as long as we always drive fast...

I turned the ECO green light off, was driving my peripheral vision crazy. I also believe the sliding ECO MPG turns off when you have cruise control on.

Depending how far you want to go/ how much of the dash we have to take off I would be willing to reserve a day to pull the larger display from my 2014 and see if its plug an play to your 2015 for others info. I will check the FSM to see how much effort this looks like it would take

edit: I just checked and its not hard at all. Remove the trim around the AC controls then the lower center console, AC control unit, Nav/Radio unit (4 screws) and then 2 screws to get the display out. Had this all apart not long ago easy job.
I'm interested in finding out if it can be installed into a 16' 4Runner. Did you happen to notice how the display is wired? Is it connected to the EnTune System? Also, I'm new to Toyota, how would I find out the part number of the display to order one?

I'm going to be going to the dealership this week to see if this is possible. Judging from the information that is displayed, it's possible it's wired from the gauge cluster, which the 14 shares with the 15/16 years.

It looks so much nicer filled out and not a huge bar with just a little clock in the middle.

Part information for the 14' is:

Part Number: 83290-35090
Part: ACCESSORY PANEL
Part Notes: TRAIL EDITION

No it's a manual set. One button for the hour and for the minute.

I just bought a '15 TE this week and to me the MOST annoying part is the flashing green "eco" dash light. Is there any way to disable this? I didn't buy this truck because I was concerned about first world made up eco issues.
Yes. Look in your manual.

Alright. I need some help from preferably 2014 trail dudes. Or even earlier with the full display vice clock only. I took my dash apart today(super easy) and removed the clock. I would love if somebody could do the same and take a pic of their connector on the display to see if this swap might just work.

Here's a thread that I used for the dash removal. Even with the new nav display, The instructions remain valid. And I didn't even need to disconnect the radio. Only the AC.

The clock display is held in by 2 Phillips screws. You just wiggle it out gently once those screws are out. Total time is about 10mins to remove everything.

Tools required are 10mm socket and Philips screwdriver

Next thread up:

I took my dash apart to see if I could add stuff to the display around the clock and now I have this rattle that is driving me nuts.

Also, my SAT/NAV display shorts in and out so I must have pulled a wire somewhere.

I should have left well enough alone.

LOL
