clogged cat converter

hey guys... i hooked up my car to the OBD and it said i had a clogged catalytic converter. I put seafoam in my car... other than taking it to a muffler shop and gettin charged up the wall... is there anything else i can do myself to solve this problem???????

What year is your Runner? There is a straight pipe available for my 1992 pickup's catalytic converter. It's called a "test pipe", I think I purchased it from LCE Engineering.
Another option is to pick a new one up off of Ebay and replace it.
 
Obviously a test pipe is illegal so if you live in a place that emission tests you still will need a cat. Cali emissions trucks "know" that a test pipe is in place and might run poorly and throw a CEL.

High flow cats can be found for around $100-150.
 
OBD scanner can not tell if the Cat is clogged! But it can tell if the catalyst is spent. It does this by comparing the O2 content before and after the Cat. The O2 will be in excess before the Cat and a huge decrease in oxygen after the Cat. If the two values are the same then the catalyst is not doing its job and needs to be replaced.
