Okay, so I know I said one last question, but I have one more haha. Did you put a check valve before the PCV or do anything else to the PCV system?
 
Did some hills at broken arrow in 4hi being stupid, just because non turbo we have to use low range.

And I thought I was pretty badass because I managed to get the rear wiper arm off of my T4R today. LOL
 
Getting a stk500_recv() error, "programmer not responding" when trying to program the standalone chip, and female headers for the SOIC adapter board ordered.

Big step today. Something was completely screwed up with the Linux version, and it was unable to flash the bootloader. Works now, 2+ weeks to resolve the bootloader thing but moving forward.

Next step, hook it up to the 4Runner or some other vehicle just to make sure it can deal with a noisy environment, cars are the worst. Spurious resets or random behavior are the concern with noise.
 
SOIC is successfully soldered along with male headers, so if it ever does fry, a new one can just be plugged right in. Now to wire this chip up and give it some power tests.

Just curious, did you ever measure the oil pressure from the location you have your oil feed to the turbo?

Nope, just ran the oil line into a bucket and started it. Watched oil squirt out, shut it off and called it good.

One thing I did notice is that oil kept coming out after I shut it off for at least a minute. Then I read about capillary bleed-down (Electric Oil Feed and Scavenge Pumps) and understood the need for a turbo timer on just the scavenge pump to suck all that oil out of the turbo after the engine is shut off. First set it at 30 seconds, that wasn't long enough, was getting oil leaking past the seals after shut off. Currently have it set at 1 minute and cured the problem, no more smoke screen at start up.
 
these are hands down the coolest and most interesting projects I've seen done on a 3rd gen 4runner. I'm hooked. Just read the thread from beginning to end... I'm psyched if I can just change a light bulb..... This is some serious mechanical ingenuity... You sure your not an engineer? Looking forward to more!
 
There was a point at the beginning of this mod that I thought, "This is exactly what I want to do to mine! Maybe I'll try it sometime."

Those thoughts are quickly evaporating as the mod goes on. This is intense!
 
stop, please just stop, my head is hurting ever time i open this thread. i want to do this, then my runner says "oh hell no!... youd just F*CK it up if you tried that..." and then i concede and go back to my humble N/A 3.4 REGULAR auto bla bla bla...

so please stop teasing us all please, we all beg you
