Clunk on drivers side front

Thought I would update... Got the truck inspected for both items on Thursday last week while having the oil changed. At first the techs did not hear anything, called me back and said I could go for a ride with the Tech Supervisor/Shop Manager if I wanted..

Took him out and found that the first "clunk" was actually the brake pad shifting slightly on turns. Normally happens when cold so the tightened a couple things and said it should be all good. However the could not seem to find the other "train whistle" noise we were talking about.

Then after about 20 minutes of driving around a parking lot, hitting multiple undulations, entrances, exits, etc. he FINALLY HEARD IT! Said it was something completely new for him so he would have to inspect the suspension but believed it was coming from the shocks. After leaving it overnight with them he called me early the next morning to say that both rear shocks were completely dead... Also, the front right was causing a different clunk due to the fact that it had failed and was leaking.

So good news is that 3 of the 4 shocks are getting replaced under warranty, the drivers side front will be replaced on our dime but I am fine with that as all the shocks are getting refreshed at the same time.

Giving another update after receiving the truck back. Total out of pocket for us was $330 due to the fact that the warranty was only replacing the 3 shocks. She definitely is a bit stiffer in her ride now with the new shocks.

Unfortunately the sound persisted and was actually happening MORE often. So the other night I went to get under the truck to take some measurements for a fabricator friend that will be doing adjustable links (Check out Trail Tailor) and randomly put my hand on the spare tire to push further under the truck. And the spare moved..... AND SQUEAKED!

I didn't put all that much pressure on the tire for it to move, so I got everything out to drop the tire to see what was under there and found nothing. Cleaned up the contact areas where the tire was contacting metal then cranked her back up. Funny enough, the sound is now gone. It seems that the squeak/horn whistle/whatever noise was actually the spare tire being just loose enough that on off camber hits (like going over a curb one wheel at a time with a little speed) was causing the tire to shift and make noise as it rubbed against the underside of the truck...

Funny thing is that we got over $1k worth of new stuff on the truck that they "found" while investigating the noise as warranty replacements!!

Got my 4runner 2 weeks ago and did the splash shield fix on driver and passenger side and still has noises coming from the left side when going over uneven roads let me know what else I could check I tighten the skid plate, check uca,lca, shock mounts,brakes, sway bar,ball joints, tie rods, sprayed eveything down with wd40 and silicone spray and still has noises coming from driver side if I cant figure it out I'll have to take it back to the dealership
