Check your local laws, but around here it's perfectly legal as long as you disclose it.

There's a writeup on it floating around google. It's pretty easy, just be.careful.

It's possible, but the old style cluster is out of date, as Toyota has decided to update their speedo cable to the 91- style end. I ended up needing a cable in our 1990, and installed a brand new speedo head into the cluster with almost O miles, had 2 on it for some reason. FYI, was one of the last ones left in the North American warehouse.

There's a tutorial on YouTube specific to the 4Runner. Search there. I ended up buying a cluster with only 500 more miles than my '89 and waiting 'til they matched.

this is something i should do with mine.

but, i would need to run the mileage UP. a LOT.
i swapped out a canadian sr5 cluster, that had over 300,000 Kilometers on it. the one i swapped in only had 116,000 miles. :bounce:
