Clutch fun

Well, after going wheeling at barnwell mountain a few days ago, I had a crazy noise in my bellhousing. Well, after all the fun of removing my transmission, we found all of my flywheel bolts loose. And my flywheel was pretty eaten up with stress cracks and the like.
Anyways, the truck needs a new flywheel and I've been really wanting the TRD clutch kit, which comes with an overweight flywheel and heavier duty clutch.
So, in the morning my co-worker and Toyota parts master will be ordering my TRD clutch kit, and I will be selling my left arm to pay for it.
I will post pictures of it being out and the flywheel horridness and other little nic-nacs on this thread. And when I get the clutch in and driving, we're going to be returning to barnwell an I will give a thorough evaluation and review of the clutch system.

I am a certified Toyota technician and I drive an 86 runner that is basically stock. No lift, 30x9.50x15s, no regearing or performance parts added.


I any of you guys have a request for a picture or an explanation of something, I'll do my best to help you out.

nice 86 you have there Sirceficus, if you could do a review on the heavy fly wheel would be nice , I was wondering how one would do on mine when I do my clutch

Well, the clutch kit has been ordered and referred as of this afternoon. Looking at either Friday or Monday for it to show up. Then even more fun shall begin.

Here's one of the back of the block. You can see some of what has to be done to get the trans out, like pulling the swaybar down and the front driveshaft.

I've replaced the clutch in my old mustang a couple of times and it wasn't to bad, but that disassembly on your rig looks like a monster... lol do you have any specs on the TRD clutch and flywheel? i'm not manual, just interested in knowing and i'm sure some of the other guys here would like to know if they don't already
