Clutch master cylinder reservoir wobbles

For years my 4runner would rattle whenever I engine braked at higher RPM (like 4k). I realized that the plastic reservoir rattled against the metal top of the clutch master cylinder.

I tied a string around the top to hold it in place and I’m thinking of gluing it. But this seems rather precarious, should I get it replaced instead?

It’s the the original one and apart from being the original one with 200k miles it feels fine. Also this is a W59 on the 2.7

So the part number I got is 3141035310, that correct?

Should I replace just the fluid reservoir or is it better to replace the whole unit?

I came out with the same 31410-35310 for the whole clutch master assembly.

There should be a roll pin tying the reservoir to the master cylinder, make sure yours has that in your current clutch master cylinder to minimize movement between the two.
You can also replace the grommet 31417-35010 if yours is worn out and leaking.

The choice is yours. I personally would change out the whole assembly while its still available through Toyota.

Another assembly option is Aisin CMT093, for over half the price cheaper of the Toyota unit.

The reservoir on my has had a loose fit since I've owned it, 2013. Never heard a rattle noise from it tho.

I haven't heard of any clutch master cylinder rattle in a Toyota. That's a new one. I would wondering if everything is attached and secured.

I am sure this can happen just never came across it before..

The reservoir, I believe, is held on by a screw or bolt in the bottom. You may just need to tighten that down a bit?
