Clutch Question...Please Help

So I bought my 96 Runner and the clutch was a little off. The more I drove it the worse it got...usually how it happens not that I have issues driving a clutch thats all Ive ever owned and my last vehicle was a '00 and never had a clutch replacement. But the clutch on my Runner doesnt pop back out completely and use to stall out when completely pressed to the floor for more then 15sec...I replaced the master and slave thinking that would remedy the problem and although the stalling out problem is fixed and the clutch works a lot better it still doesnt completely pop back after I take my foot off it...Is this a return spring issues? Or something else? What is causing this problem? Has anyone else had this issue? And how the hell do I fix it?

It could be the clutch pedal torsion spring has sufficiently worn the arm it rides in, and is binding.

I'd also make sure the system is bled, and that both the master and slave cylinders are working.

I removed my torsion spring years ago due to occasional binding because of the worn arm, and replaced it with a spring as described in this thread: FIXED!! Stupid PLASTIC clutch pedal bushing - YotaTech Forums

Initially the pedal feel was different than I was used to, but I quickly adjusted to the new feel.

The pedal return spring design is terrible in these trucks and usually causes problems.

I figured it had something to do with the return spring...is it going to effect my clutch or wear it out if it doesnt get fixed right away?

It can cause the throw out bearing to wear out prematurely, theres supposed to be "free play" in the pedal which keeps pressure off the throw out bearing.

I suppose it would've gotten pretty interesting if it'd managed to wear completely though or the weakened arm broke. :/ At least, it would've gotten pretty annoying.

Next go round I'll do the mod- that spring was a BEAR to replace and I wouldn't have to replace my clutch pedal assembly either if I'm remembering correctly how that mod goes.
My clue to look? The cruise control wouldn't work because the pedal wouldn't return fully unless I bumped it up with my foot. Other than that everything worked fine.

Yeah, like everyone said the new #70 spring should fix your problem. I had the same problem so long I developed a habit of putting my foot under the clutch pedal to pull it all the way up after I depressed it...

My pedal didn't squeak too much like the author's pedal in that write-up, so I wasn't quite sure that the spring replacement was going to fix my problem. I popped the old spring out, and threw the new one in and the clutch pedal returns all the way now. Good luck, it's super easy to do and rewarding
